Sisterhood Christmas Party

Our ladies had a great time Saturday evening at their annual Christmas party. These are the gifts for the "Dirty Santa" game. We had a so much fun "fighting, plotting and sceming" for the gift of our choice. We all went home winners because we all enjoyed great fellowship and laughter!
Our leader, Sister Jennifer and her assistant, April decorated everything so beautifully and Sister Requeena Weatherly shared a wonderful devotion.

Jenny, Mary, Betty, and Faye...along with every other lady was presented with a cookbook handmade by Sister Jennifer compiling the recipes of each dish prepared.

Ladies' Christmas Party

Okay ladies, get ready for some special time with your sisters! Our annual Christmas party is Saturday, December 15th at 6:oo p.m. in the PeoplesTrust Bank banquet room.

This year we want to do a recipe swap. Bring your favorite party food, but first we need your recipe. Sister Jennifer Galbreath is collecting everyone's recipes to create a recipe book before the party. She needs these NO LATER THAN Sunday, December 9th!

Also, bring a wrapped gift valued between $5-$10 to play our "Dirty Santa" game.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not removethe blindfold until the rays of the mornings sun, shine through it Hecannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the onlyway he could become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm. We, too, are never alone. Even when we don't know it, our Heavenly Father is watching over us,sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Work for the Lord - the pay isn't much, but the retirement is out of this world!!!

SWEET POISON...A MUST READ

In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain.

By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, lifeinsurance, etc., in her oldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of. She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd. On March 19 I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn't find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS.

I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister if she drank diet soda? She told me that she did. As a matter of fact, she was getting ready to crack one open that moment. I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda! I e-mailed her the article my friend, a lawyer, had sent. My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk! The musclespasms went away. She said she didn't feel 100% but she sure felt a lot better. She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would call me when she got home.

Well, she called me, and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind. In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda...and literally dying a slow and miserable death. When she got to Florida March 22, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning! She is well on her way to a completerecovery. And she is walking! No wheelchair! This article saved her life.

If it says 'SUGAR FREE' on the label; DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on "ASPARTAME" marketed as 'NutraSweet,' 'Equal,' and'Spoonful'. In the keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there was an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causingthis to be rampant. I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.

I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. Many people were being diagnosed in error. Although multiplesclerosis is not a death sentence, Methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become alife-threatening condition. We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas. In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis,most of the symptoms disappear. We've seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly.

This also applies to cases of tinnitus and fibromyalgia. During a lecture, I said, "If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting, pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probablyhave ASPARTAME poisoning!"
People were jumping up during the lecture saying, "I have some of these symptoms. Is it reversible?" Yes! Yes! Yes!

STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food labels! Many products are fortified with it! This is a serious problem.
Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice, a nurse stated that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!

Diet soda is NOT a diet product! It is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight! These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin andis used primarily to preserve "tissue specimens". Many products we use every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once free of the "diet products" and with no significant increase in exercise; his patients lost an average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics. We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by Aspartame. The Aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control. Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory lossdue to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE. Especially with diabetics, the Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrierand, it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain; causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger andrage. Consumption of Aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics as well.

Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turnarounds in their behavior when these chemicals have been removed from their diet. So called "behavior modification prescription drugs" (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed. Truth be told, they were never NEEDED in the first place! Most of these children were being "poisoned" on a daily basis with the veryfoods that were "better for them than sugar."

It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of diet Coke and diet Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mentalretardation, if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy. Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER be given artificial sweeteners. There are many different case histories to relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological disturbances. Talk about a plague ofneurological diseases directly caused by the use of this deadly poison."

Herein lies the problem:

There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in a 100 different products and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings, andstill nothing has been done. The drug and chemical lobbiest have very deep pockets.

Sadly, MONSANTO'S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED! There are now over 5,000 products on the market that contain this deadly chemical and there will be thousands more introduced. Everybody wants a "piece of the Aspartame pie." I assure you that MONSANTO, the creatorof Aspartame, knows how deadly it is. And isn't it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians?

This has been recently exposed in the New York Times. These [organizations] cannot criticize any additives or convey their link to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and are required to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding pregnant women, children and infants. The bill would also institute independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing inthe general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry, neurological changes and behavioral symptoms. The bill was killed.

It is known that the powerful drug and chemical lobbiest are responsible for this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and uninformed public. Well, you're Informed now! YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

Our October sisterhood brunch included a time of planning for upcoming service projects. One project for November is a cake auction planned for November 18th. Proceeds from this event will go to the Helping Hands Fund.

Our next meeting is scheduled for November 10th at 10:00 a.m.

Sister Jennifer, and her "sidekick", April did an wonderful job with the ladies' brunch Saturday. She inspired us to "get up and do something for God." We feast on His Word and His blessings daily and we need to exercise our spirit man by working to change our families, our church, and our community through SERVICE.

She needs ideas. Our next meeting is scheduled for October 20th at 10:00 a.m. Each lady is asked to make a list of service projects we can accomplish. One "baby sitting" project has already begun! Make your list and give it to Sister Jennifer by Wednesday, October 17th.
At the end of each year, we will reflect on the projects we have accomplished. Talk to the Father about what we can do to serve His people.

I e-mailed you yesterday about my son getting hurt on the playground at school. Kenny took him to the doctor and there was a piece of bone that was broken off at the end of his elbow. Kenny took him to the doctor today and these are the results:

HE WAS HEALED.......GLORY TO GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kenny called and said that there was nothing showing on the X-Ray's that the doctor took today. The doctor told him that he could play football or do whatever he wanted to do. He was healed.

Last night, Colton told me that he prayed that the Lord would heal him. He said, "you know when you pray and you have a feeling come over you that you are healed?, well, I have that feeling that the Lord has healed me".

Colton knew and I just wanted you all to know. Thanks so much for the prayers.

I was trying to drive to my doctor's appointment yesterday alone. As some of you know, I've been having a lot of trouble driving because I try to fall asleep, and have a couple of times. I was very sleepy, but I knew I had to go and I knew I had to try to keep my eyes open. I was struggling very badly, when I put my hand to my eyes and lifted my head toward heaven and said "God, please keep my eyes open and keep awake while I'm driving, I really need your help".

I happened INSTANTLY! God opened my eyes and I didn't have another minute's trouble driving all the way to North Florence and back.

PRAISE GOD! His mercy endures forever.

One of Falkville's Elementary teachers, Kelly Issa Holt, has been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She’s been taking chemo for several months now and yesterday the doctor told her it was killing her. She’s lost 76 lbs. in 3 mos. She can no longer take the treatments. When she’s strong enough, she’ll have to have a double mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. Her husband says that she is talking about her funeral arrangements! This is so hard for him, as they have only been married about a year! (My sister-in-law, Renee, works with Kelly's husband).

Please keep them in your prayers. I know God still works miracles, and can still work one for her.

Adam was hanging around the garden of Eden feeling very lonely. So, God asked him, "What's wrong with you?" Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to. God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman. He said, "This pretty lady will gather food for you, she will cook for you, and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make and she will not nag you, and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will praise you! She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. "She will NEVER have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it" Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?" God replied, "An arm and a leg." Then Adam asked, "What can I get for a _rib_?" Of course the rest is history............!!!!

She's going, going, gone!

I`m invisible.
It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking,
"Can't you see I'm on the phone?"
Obviously not. No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking,
or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner,
because no one can see me at all.
I'm invisible.

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix
this? Can you tie this? Can you open this?

Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, "What time is it?" I'm a satellite guide to answer, "What number is the Disney Channel?" I'm a car to order,
"Right around 5:30, please."

I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude - but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's going - she's going - she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England . Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my out-of-style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip
and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut butter in it. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, "I brought you this." It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe . I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription: "To Charlotte , with admiration for the greatness of what you are
building when no one sees."

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work:
* No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names.
* These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished.
* They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, "Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever see it." And the workman replied, "Because God sees."

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, "I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective
when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because
there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, "My mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table." That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, "You're gonna love it there."

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

SUPER COOL SUNDAY 2007 - August 19th

We had an Awsome day at the 2007 Super Cool Sunday. Requeena, April and I registered 95 children and 66 Adults. This may have been a day dedicated to our children, but the grown-ups had as much fun as the kids did.

Thanks to Sister Tina Raper and BethAnn Michael for all of their hard work organizing the project. Thanks to all of the volunteers who made the day a success. I believe you all earned a lot of points with the kids and I'm sure God is smiling down on you all for taking time out to teach our children and to just spend your time having fun with them.

The Sacred Red Rose

The person who did this was Jack Benny. You have to read this, it is absolutely beautiful.

Each year he sent her roses, and the note would always say,
I love you even more this year, than last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow, with every passing year.

"She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear.
She thought, he ordered roses in advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know, that he would pass away.
He always liked to do things early, way before the time.
Then, if he got too busy, everything would work out fine.

She trimmed the stems and placed them in a very special vase.
Then, sat the vase beside the portrait of his smiling face.
She would sit for hours, In her husband's favorite chair.
While staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there.
A year went by, and it was to live without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude, that had become her fate.

Then, the very hour, the doorbell rang, and there were roses sitting by her door.
She brought the roses in, and then just looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone, to call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and she asked him, if he would explain,
why someone would do this to her, causing her such pain?"

I know your husband passed away, more than a year ago,"
The owner said, "I knew you'd call, and you would want to know.
The flowers you received today were paid for in advance.
Your husband always planned ahead, he left nothing to chance.
There is a standing order, that I have on file down here,
and he has paid, well in advance, you'll get them every year.

There also is another thing that I think you should know.
He wrote a special little card. He did this years ago.
Then, should ever I find out that he's no longer here,
that's the card that should be sent to you the following year.

"She thanked him and hung up the phone, her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly reached to get the card.
Inside the card, she saw that he had written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence, this is what he wrote...

"Hello my love, I know it's been a year since I've been gone.
I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to overcome.
I know it must be lonely, and the pain is very real.
Or if it was the other way, I know how I would feel.
The love we shared made everything so beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say, you were the perfect wife.
You were my friend and lover, you fulfilled my every need.
I know it's only been a year, but please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses will be sent to you for years.
When you get these roses, think of all the happiness that we had together,
and how both of us were blessed.
I have always loved you and I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still.
Please...try to find happiness, while living out your days.
I know it is not easy, but I hope you find some ways.
The roses will come every year, and they will only stop,
When your door's not answered, when the florist stops to knock.

Please help me pray for my friend Carol Howell and her husband Dan. Lastnight their youngest son committed suicide. We are all just devastatedover this. Carol has had a really hard week physically (they wanted to domore chemo to make sure there wasn't any more cancer cells around where thetumor had been), and she has been feeling really bad since last Saturday.I can't even imagine the anguish they are going through now, but I do knowthe only thing that will get them through this is the prayers of theirfamily, friends and fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. Please keepthem in prayer, not just this in this present time, but in the weeks andmonths ahead. Only the Lord can help them through this awful time.

SUPER COOL SUNDAY 2007

It’s almost that time again. Start spreading the word. On August 19th from 10:00 - 3:00, Kids ages 5 and up are invited to spend the day here at the church with us for our puppet show, uplifting praise and worship, interesting bible lessons, good food, crafts, and super fun games (including water games).

We want to see 200 kids here learning about Jesus, fellowshipping with everyone, and having lots of fun. Of course we need adult volunteers, so please see Tina Raper to find out what you can do to help. Remember all kids are welcome, but we don't want to keep anyone from going to their home church. This is for our kids to welcome kids in the community that don't have a home church.

As some of you know Keith and I have really been struggling in many areas in our life. Keith has really been discouraged, beyond discrouraged. I really don't know what you would call it. Anyway, he wouldn't even go to church with me yesterday. He said he just needed to be by himself. So he left out on his trip.

He called me about 9:30 last night (Sunday night), and he was crying and laughing at the same time. Well, I knew God had done something big. He said he had talked to God off and on all day as he was driving to Indiana. He said that when he got to the truck stop where he was going to spend the night and he was getting ready to eat and go to bed, he got down on his knees and began praying. He told God that he didn't care what it meant or basically what it took from our lives, he just wanted to be in God's will and he need filled with the Holy Spirit because he was empty. He told God that he was just gonna' have to "show him."

Well, God did! He said that the Holy Spirit hit him like a bolt of ligntning. He was slain in the spirit for quite a while. He said he hadn't felt that kind of move of the spirit since he was a kid. I'm sure he moved the truck when he fell and he was making all kids of noises. There is no telling what the drivers of the trucks on either side of him were thinking, but for one of the few times in his life, he didn't care. He was in that spiritual realm that we all long to be, but many of us have yet to get.

I talked to him for about an hour and most of the time he was just crying, laughing and praising God. It was awesome!!! I told Keith when he left yesterday morning that God was trying to get our attention. I reminded him of that last night, and he said that God definitely got his attention. I long for the time when God finally gets my attention like that.

I just wanted to share one more temendous thing God has done for our family. And, it's not just for Keith. It's for you and me, too. From what I hear, many of you found that out at the service at church last night. I'm sure there will be something giving praise to God on the church Blog about that so look for the deails at http://www.aplacefornewbeginnings.blogspot.com/.

God is AWESOME!!! And he's right on time. I love Him more and more every day.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST - Taylin McCarley

Sister Betty McCarley's granddaughter had her baby about 4 days ago. Taylin McCarley, Santana's beautiful baby girl, has a whole in her heart and the main valve is too small. She will need surgery to correct these problems. Please be in prayer for the surgeons, baby Taylin, Santana and the entire family as God leads them through this great trial. May God use this to bring the lost in their family to know Jesus and may God receive the glory and honor for what we know is going to be a blessed outcome for Taylin.

Yahweh Sisterhood Meeting was Great!

Though many of our women were out of town and some had sick family members, we had a fair turnout at the Women's Ministry Meeting last night. I took my camera, but forgot to take any pictures (sorry).

Just as the meeting was about to start, we had a sweet lady who was in the J.ust O.ver Y.outh category stop because she was in need of help. Ms. Barbara Owen was on her way to Nashville to visit her mother (Ms. Pounders) who is in the hospital. We invited her to join the meeting and assisted her before she left. Please pray for Ms. Owen as she is having a very difficult time right now and also for Ms. Pounders for a healing from the Lord.

We had a lot of delicious food, especially the chocolate cake Jennifer made...yum-mee! Sister Ruby Nell Cochran asked the blessing over our food. After everyone had finished eating, Sister Jennifer Galbreath spoke about spiritual tubiligations. She brought a whole new prospective about how sin is conceived and birthed in us. It was great! (She will be teaching for the next few months, so don't miss the next meeting.) We then gave out a few door prizes, and believe it or not but, Ms. Barbara won the first prize - a picnic set and bookmark.

We missed all who were unable to attend and hope to see all you at the August meeting! We had a wonderful time eating, fellowshipping, taking in God's word & applying it to our lives, and getting to meet and help such a sweet lady.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for:

Karen Sullivan (A friend of my friend/church member Cindy Townsend)...she is having some problems at home and work. She is a Christian but her family members are not. She senses evil in her home and may possibly be depressed.

Michelle Williams' (church member) Dad is having minor surgery today. He has a history of heart problems so it causes a little concern any time he needs to be sedated.

Marge Ahlgrim friend/church member had minor surgery yesterday and has a lot of family troubles/stresses. She is elderly and doesn't need the extra stress, but you know how families can be!

And my sister, Dawn. She is really having a hard time emotionally. Some of you may know that she rescues animals for a living. Well, a kitten she'd been caring for 24/7 since he was 2 days old died Monday after 7 weeks. She had resuscitated him, gave him a blood transfusion, etc. Even named him Lazarus.

And as petty as this sounds to some of you, it is very real, and very painful to her. (And to me as her sister, someone who loves her and feels her pain.) A couple of my sisters in Christ laughed Monday night when I told them and it hurt me. And the irony is, we had JUST that moment finished a devotional on not judging others.

Today is the first time I've talked to Dawn since Monday and she doesn't know if she can take any more. She hasn't felt a void like this since our mother died...it will be 5 years on August 7th. So please don't blow off this small, seemingly insignificant request.

I know the past couple of days have been a barrage of requests, but when people ask me to pray and to ask others to pray, I share those requests. These needs are real to people. So forgive me for all the emails.

BETH MOORE AT THE AIRPORT

April 20, 2005, at the Airport in Knoxville, waiting to board the plane, I had the Bible on my lap and was very intent upon what I was doing. I'd had a marvelous morning with the Lord. I say this because I want to tell you it is a scary thing to have the Spirit of God really working in you. You could end up doing some things you never would have done otherwise. Life in the Spirit can be dangerous for a thousand reasons not the least of which is your ego.

I tried to keep from staring, but he was such a strange sight. Humped over in a wheelchair, he was skin and bones, dressed in clothes that obviously fit when he was at least twenty pounds heavier. His knees protruded from his trousers, and his shoulders looked like the coat hanger was still in his shirt. His hands looked like tangled masses of veins and bones. The strangest part of him was his hair and nails. Stringy, gray hair hung well over his shoulders and down part of his back. His fingernails were long, clean but strangely out of place on an old man.

I looked down at my Bible as fast as I could, discomfort burning my face. As I tried to imagine what his story might have been, I found myself wondering if I'd just had a Howard Hughes sighting. Then, I remembered that he was dead. So this man in the airport...an impersonator maybe? Was a camera on us somewhere? There I sat; trying to concentrate on the Word to keep from being concerned about a thin slice of humanity served on a wheelchair only a few seats from me. All the while, my heart was growing more and more overwhelmed with a feeling for him. Let's admit it. Curiosity is a heap more comfortable than true concern, and suddenly I was awash with aching emotion for this bizarre-looking old man.

I had walked with God long enough to see the handwriting on the wall. I've learned that when I begin to feel what God feels, something so contrary to my natural feelings, something dramatic is bound to happen. And it may be embarrassing. I immediately began to resist because I could feel God working on my spirit and I started arguing with God in my mind. "Oh, no, God, please, no." I looked up at the ceiling as if I could stare straight through it into heaven and said, "Don't make me witness to this man. Not right here and now. Please. I'll do anything. Put me on the same plane, but don't make me get up here and witness to this man in front of this gawking audience. Please, Lord!" There I sat in the blue vinyl chair begging His Highness, "Please don't make me witness to this man. Not now. I'll do it on the plane." Then I heard it... "I don't want you to witness to him. I want you to brush his hair."

The words were so clear, my heart leapt into my throat, and my thoughts spun like a top. Do I witness to the man or brush his hair? No-brainier. I looked straight back up at the ceiling and said, "God, as I live and breathe, I want you to know I am ready to witness to this man. I'm on this Lord. I'm your girl! You've never seen a woman witness to a man faster in your life. What difference does it make if his hair is a mess if he is not redeemed? I am going to witness to this man." Again as clearly as I've ever heard an audible word, God seemed to write this statement across the wall of my mind. "That is not what I said, Beth. I don't want you to witness to him. I want you to go brush his hair." I looked up at God and quipped, "I don't have a hairbrush. It's in my suitcase on the plane. How am I supposed to brush his hair without a hairbrush?" God was so insistent that I almost involuntarily began to walk toward him as these thoughts came to me from God's word: "I will thoroughly furnish you unto all good works." (2 Timothy 3:17)

I stumbled over to the wheelchair thinking I could use one myself. Even as I retell this story, my pulse quickens and I feel those same butterflies. I knelt down in front of the man and asked as demurely as possible, "Sir, may I have the pleasure of brushing your hair?" He looked back at me and said, "What did you say?" I said, "May I have the pleasure of brushing your hair?" To which he responded in volume ten, "Little lady, if you expect me to hear you, you're going to have to talk louder than that." At this point, I took a deep breath and blurted out, "SIR, MAY I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF BRUSHING YOUR HAIR?" At which point every eye in the place darted right at me. I was the only thing in the room looking more peculiar than old Mr. Longlocks. Face crimson and forehead breaking out in a sweat, I watched him look up at me with absolute shock on his face, and say, "If you really want to." Are you kidding? Of course I didn't want to. But God didn't seem interested in my personal preference right about then. He pressed on my heart until I could utter the words, "Yes, sir, I would be pleased. But I have one little problem. I don't have a hairbrush." "I have one in my bag, " he responded.

I went around to the back of that wheelchair, and I got on my hands and knees and unzipped the stranger's old carry-on, hardly believing what I was doing. I stood up and started brushing the old man's hair. It was perfectly clean, but it was tangled and matted. I don't do many things well, but must admit I've had notable experience untangling knotted hair mothering two little girls. Like I'd done with either Amanda or Melissa in such a condition, I began brushing at the very bottom of the strands, remembering to take my time not to pull.
A miraculous thing happened to me as I started brushing that old man's hair. Everybody else in the room disappeared. There was no one alive for those moments except that old man and me. I brushed and I brushed and I brushed until every tangle was out of that hair.

I know this sounds so strange, but I've never felt that kind of love for another soul in my entire life. I believe with all my heart, I - for that few minutes - felt a portion of the very love of God. That He had overtaken my heart for a little while like someone renting a room and making Himself at home for a short while. The emotions were so strong and so pure that I knew they had to be God's. His hair was finally as soft and smooth as an infant's.

I slipped the brush back in the bag and went around the chair to face him. I got back down on my knees, put my hands on his knees and said, "Sir, do you know my Jesus?" He said, "Yes, I do." Well, that figures, I thought.
He explained, "I've known Him since I married my bride. She wouldn't marry me until I got to know the Savior." He said, "You see, the problem is, I haven't seen my bride in months. I've had open-heart surgery, and she's been too ill to come see me. I was sitting here thinking to myself, what a mess I must be for my bride."

Only God knows how often He allows us to be part of a divine moment when we're completely unaware of the significance. This, on the other hand, was one of those rare encounters when I knew God had intervened in details only He could have known. It was a God moment, and I'll never forget it. Our time came to board, and we were not on the same plane. I was deeply ashamed of how I'd acted earlier and would have been so proud to have accompanied him on that aircraft. I still had a few minutes, and as I gathered my things to board, the airline hostess returned from the corridor, tears streaming down her cheeks. She said, "That old man's sitting on the plane, sobbing. Why did you do that? What made you do that?" I said, "Do you know Jesus? He can bet he bossiest thing!" And we got to share.

I learned something about God that day. He knows if you're exhausted, you're hungry, you're serving in the wrong place or it is time to move on but you feel too responsible to budge. He knows if you're hurting or feeling rejected. He knows if you're sick or drowning under a wave of temptation. Or He knows if you just need your hair brushed. He sees you as an individual. Tell Him your need!

I got on my own flight, sobs choking my throat, wondering how many opportunities just like that one had I missed along the way. . . all because I didn't want people to think I was strange. God didn't send me to that old man. He sent that old man to me.

John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly shouting, "Wow! What a ride! Thank You, Lord!"

INFLAMMATORY BREAST CANCER (IBC)

A Different Kind of Breast Cancer.
We have been taught and are reminded frequently by public service announcements and by the medical community that when a woman discovers a lump on her breast she should go to the doctor immediately. Inflammatory breast cancer usually grows in nests or sheets, rather than as a confined, solid tumor and therefore can be diffuse throughout the breast with no palpable mass. The cancer cells clog the lymphatic system just below the skin. Lymph node involvement is assumed. Increased breast density compared to prior mammograms should be considered suspicious.

However, You Don't Have to Have a Lump to Have Breast Cancer. Some women who have inflammatory breast cancer may remain undiagnosed for long periods, even while seeing their doctor to learn the cause of her symptoms. The symptoms are similar to mastitis, a breast infection and some doctors, not recognizing IBC, will prescribe antibiotics. If a response to antibiotics is not apparent after a week, a biopsy should be performed or a referral to a breast specialist is warranted.

IBC Does Not Descriminate By Age.
A surprising portion women diagnosed with IBC are as young as in their teens. A large portion of young women with IBC had their first symptoms during pregnancy or lactation. The misconception that these young women are at lower risk for breast cancer and the fact that IBC is the most aggressive form of breast cancer may result in metastases by the time the diagnosis is made.

One or more of the following are Typical Symptoms of IBC:
Swelling, usually sudden. Sometimes a cup size in a few days.
An inverted nipple (nipple retraction), or sometimes an enlarged nipple.
Pink, red or dark colored area (called erythema) sometimes with texture similiar to the skin of an orange.
Ridges and thickened areas of the skin.
What appears to be a bruise that doesn't go away.
Nipple discharge, may or may not be bloody.
Breast is warm to the touch.
Breast pain (from a constant ache to stabbing pains)
Change in color and texture of the areola (nipple area)
Don't let any symptom go unchecked. Some women's symptoms were dismissed as bug bites and they were given hydrocortisone cream while the cancer grew at alarming rates. The sad thing is many, many physicians have never heard of IBC.

The Search Committee will be meeting at the church every Tuesday at 6:30 pm to pray specifically Bishop Jones, the Search Committee, our church as a whole the candidates involved, and for wisdom and guidance from God in every aspect of this process. These prayer meetings will continue until our new pastor arrives. The Search Committee has also asked that every person in our congregation, please join them in prayer each Tuesday evening at the church if possible. If you are unable to come to the church, please join them in prayer where ever you are at that time. Many of you are praying and fasting on Tuesdays already. Committee Elected to Search for a Pastor

Those who chose to participate met with Bishop LV Jones Thursday night to discuss the process for finding a new pastor. Bishop Jones went over the process step-by-step and gave everyone an opportunity to ask questions. He also informed us of a list of possible candidates that Brother Brian had given him and some he had thought of. Bishop Jones then left us with the task of electing a committee to act on behalf of the church as a liaison between the church and the candidates and the state overseer's office. We had a brief discussion and decided that each of us would cast our vote for seven people to sit on this committee. The votes were counted and the seven people with the most votes were appointed to the committee.

Those appointed to the committee are as follows:

Lisa Stidham, Secretary
Charlotte Dollar
Angie Wellington

Ronnie Stidham was then elected as Chairman; Lisa Stidham was elected to be the Secretary who will take notes at every meeting and interview. A list was started of possible candidates to be submitted to Bishop Jones. If you know of a pastor (pastors) you think would be a good candidate to Pastor this church, please submit their name(s) to Ronnie Stidham by Sunday night, July 8th. Names can be submitted afterwards, but this is the date for our initial list to be compiled and forwarded to Bishop Jones.

Please understand that this committee is to be the voice of the entire church. Each member of this church has as much say as every other member, including those on the search committee. This committee will not make decisions without consulting the congregation and then Bishop Jones. This committee will NOT choose our next Pastor on their own. This committee was established to make the process go faster and more smoothly. Please support them.

If you have questions about how the process will work, please contact one of the members of the committee. If you have a pastor to add to the list after the initial list has been submitted, contact the chairman, Ronnie Stidham. If you have questions about the candidates, please feel free to ask anyone on the committee. Petition to Stop "Drive-through Mastectomies"!

For most women diagnosed with breast cancer, the only treatment option is a mastectomy. A Mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to removecancerous breast cells/tissue. Being told you have cancer is a traumatic experience. Having a mastectomy can be even more traumatic. Also, if you know anyone who has had amastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and painafterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies anoutpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly inthe hospital for 2 days after surgery.

In January 2007, Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Representative Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) reintroduced the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2007 (S. 459/H.R.758). The bill would allow a woman and her doctor to decide whether she should recuperate for at least 48 hours in the hospital or whether she has enough support to get quality care at home following this emotionally and physically difficult surgery.

"JOIN THE JOURNEY"

As most of you know, Pastor Brian and his family will be moving at the end of July to Pastor the Church of God of Prophecy in Sheffield, AL. It saddens me greatly that he and Sister Renee, Tayler & Will will be leaving us. However, do not be discouraged by this change. We must look at this with hope of God-filled new beginnings for the Suttons, the Sheffield church and for our church. Lisa Stults' vision of "Join the Journey" has been brought back to remembrance to many of our spirit-filled ladies. That is what we are on, a journey. God is leading the way and we must follow Him.

Yes, it is sad to lose our pastoral family whom we love so very much. But, we must remember who we are to follow. We must remember to follow God through our Lord Jesus Christ and with the help of the Holy Spirit. We must follow God, not our Pastor, not our Sunday School Teachers, not our various ministry leaders. We must remember that our God, who loves us more than we can comprehend, is in control. We must lay down our will and allow God's will to be done. We must have faith and be hopeful. We must stick together during this trial to come out on the other side stronger and more full of faith.

One of our ladies told me that she felt God was saying to her that we must keep our eyes on Christ. Then, I heard a message on television this week that really brought that thought home. We hear great, uplifting and thought-provoking messages each time we attend our weekly services. We have wonderful fellowship during our small group meetings, our monthly women's and men's ministry meetings, and monthly snack times and dinners. Our congregation is growing. But, are we really getting it? Where is our focus? The message I heard challenged viewers (challenged me) to set our eyes on Jesus. God is the Almighty, the Great I Am. He more than deserves our worship and praise. God is to be first in every part of our lives. But, in John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We must make sure that Jesus is in every service, in every time of worship, in every time of fellowship, in every message, in every business meeting, in everything thing we do. We must remember that WE are the church and JESUS is our shepherd.

I'm not usually the person to do what I'm about to do, but this is not coming from me. God is leading me in this writing and in the challenge in the next few sentences. For over a year now, many of us chose to fast and pray for our church on Tuesday each week. I don't know how many of you are still doing this, but I challenge all of you who are to continue and those who aren't to start. Remember to pray for the Suttons and the Sheffield church as well. We're all on the same team and our goal is to live an abundant life through Christ on our journey to heaven, and our commission is to take as many souls with us as we possibly can.

Let us all set our eyes on God and "Join the Journey".

WHO IS JESUS?

RUN THROUGH THE RAIN WITH ME

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target.

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in

"Mom let's run through the rain," she said. "What?" Mom asked. "Lets run through the rain!" She repeated. "No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied. This young child waited about another minute and repeated: "Mom, let's run through the rain," "We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said. "No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm. This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?

"Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!"

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

"Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said. Then off they ran.

We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

We had an Awesome Mother's Day Banquet!

Saturday eveing, May 12th, was our 2007 Mother's Day Banuqet. Sister Renee Sutton was our hostess and she did a fabulous job. The room was beautiful and was full of Mothers, Daughters, Grandmothers, Grand-daughters and even Great Grand-daughters. My daughter-in-law, Amy, came with me and that was such a blessing to me.

Sister Lynn Raper and her Mother, Gracelyn Ray, prepared the food, which was delicious. Many of the ladies in attendance prepared and brought desserts and they were yummy! The evening started with a "Welcome" from Renee, Lisa Stidham asked the blessing over our food and we chowed down. We listened to a beautiful song from a son to his mother, it brought tears to the eyes of most of us, especially the ones who has a son.

Sister Cynthia Stidham introduced our special guest, Former Indiana State Women's Ministry Director, Sister Paulette Ramsey, who now is part of our Alabama church family at Harris Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. Sister Ramsey spoke to us about the "Awsome Gift from God" in being a mother." And what a privilege it is.

Our Mother of the Year, Sister Nancy McCarley, was out of town. We held off on announcing the winner until the Sunday morning service. We ended the evening by giving each lady in attendance a small token of our appreciation, a cookbook with recepies submitted by many of the ladies from our congregation and prepared by a few of our women from the Yahweh Sisterhood, Sister Renee, Sister Angela Fincher, and me.

Thank you to all that joined us. A special thank you to Sister Renee and Sister Angela for all of their hard work and to Sister Paulette for her insight into motherhood. Thanks to all of the men and women who helped us set up and to those who helped us clean up.

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Unlike our cell phone, no dropped calls!

One more thing, unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Makes you stop and think "where are my priorities?"

Hackleburg's 2007 "Neighbor Day Festival" - Saturday, April 28

Hackleburg's 2007 Neighbor Day Festival will be on Saturday, April 28. It starts at 9:00 am. The Hackleburg Church of God of Prophecy is proud to announce that we will have many wonderful and talented members of our congregation (including our kids) performing at various times throughout the day.

Our booth this year will have free cookies and bottled water, contact cards and brochures, and we will be showing a video of people and events from out church. Cynthia Stidham will be making balloon animals for the kids.

Prayer Request from an on-line friend

I got a call from my best friend Jenn today, they are doing more testing later today at 3:00pm mst because they think she might have Lymphoma. I am letting it go and letting God, this is just not only hitting very close to home because it is her... we lost her mom 2 years ago to Lymphoma and my Aunt to the same in this past October two weeks before my son was born. She is also a christian.Thankfully!

ATTENTION LADIES: the 2007 Joyce Meyer Womens Conference is scheduled for September 20-22, 2007, at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO. Registration for the conference starts May 21st and the cost is $55.00. We had our monthly Yahweh Sisterhood Meeting Thursday, March 8th at the church. Lisa Stidham and I decorated everything in pink, the room was beautiful. However, when the wonderful ladies arrived, it became more beautiful.

"You were created Beautiful" was the theme of the evening. Lisa took us through an inspiring devotion. We then went around the room telling the person sitting on our left one thing we thought was beautiful about them. We laughed and we cried. And, I believe that each one of us left there feeling more beautiful than when they came.

Contrary to the old saying, "Beauty is more than just skin deep". The love of Christ dwelling in us causes us to use the gifts that God gave us; and, that's what makes us beautiful. God created each of us in his image; so we must be beautiful.

In addition to the wonderful devotion and fellowship time we shared, we had a delicious food and a productive planning session. Hackleburg's Anual Neighbor Day Festival will be Saturday, April 28th. Our church will have a booth where we will offer free bottled water, free homebaked cookies, free nolveties for the kids, promotional items and informative brochures about our church and the various ministries.

For those of you who could not make this meeting, we missed you and hope you will be able to be with us next month.

Saturday - Cooking Day Help me, my Savior, to brew a big kettle of brotherly love and serve it with clean, sweet bread of human kindness.

Sunday - The Lord's Day O God, I have prepared my house for you. Please come into my heart so I may spend the day and the rest of my life in your presence.

Everyday "Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

Mother's Day Banquet - May 12th

Our annual Mother's Day Banquet will be Saturday, May 12th, at 6:00pm, in the banquet room of People’s Trust Bank. This event has been a huge success and attendance grows every year. This year’s hostess will be Renee Sutton, so expect a wonderful time.

We are now accepting letters for “Mother of the Year”. If you would like to nominate your mother, please give your letter (in a sealed envelope) to Tina Stults, Lisa Stidham, or Renee Sutton no later than April 22nd. Thanks to our Children’s Church, Sunday school, and Bible Memory Club workers, our children will be able to nominate their Mothers for this honor.

YAHWEH SISTERHOOD MEETING - FEB 20, 2007

We had a wonderful time at this month's Yahweh Sisterhood meeting. There were 17 terrific women in attendance. We had delicious food as you can see my favorite part in one of the pictures below (the dessert table). Sister Cynthia Stidham presented a devotion that was a true blessing.

We also discussed ordering t-shirts and contact cards for our Ministry; we talked about having a booth at Neighbor Day; and, we discussed other planning matters.

The best part of the meeting was our sharing and prayer time. Each one of us shared our three most important prayer requests as we connected to each other via a ball of string. We then went the Father in prayer for every one of those needs. This was such a sweet and touching time as we shared from the depths of our hearts with each other and with Jesus as he interceeded between us and God.

I want to say a special thanks to Angela Fincher who was a great help in getting prepared for the meeting; special thanks to Sister Cynthia for the devotion, game and the t-shirt design. And, thanks to those who joined in at this meeting. It was such a blessing to me; and I hope it was to all of you. For those of you who could not be at this meeting, I pray that you will be at the meeting in March.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

As some of you know, Martha was hospitalized last week. She is not doing well. They ran that test to see how well and if the treatments were doing any good.

Nina called me just a few minutes ago, terribly upset. Martha was at Winfield meeting with her cancer doctor there. The cancer has spread and grown tremendously, almost overtaking her liver also. They are undecided what to do. Whether to continue the treatments, or to discontinue them.

This family has gone through an awful lot in the past 6 months. We need to pray and believe for a miracle healing in Martha's body. I believe Martha's life is right with God and she is ready to go.

I had intended to be at the Women's ministry meeting tonight, however, I feel the need to be with Martha and Nina. If any of you would like to stop by and pray with Martha and Nina, I KNOW they would love this. If you would like to come as a group after the meeting, that would be wonderful.

Martha is a very dear dear friend to me, and I know she believes in the power of prayer. So please keep her and Nina and Burt in your prayers.

MEET - LISA STIDHAM

My name is Lisa Stidham. I am 35 years old. I was born Lisa Ann Mclemore in Hayti, Missouri in 1971. My mother is Evelyn McLemore and My father is Edward McLemore. I have two sisters, Angie, Wellington and Crystal Huggins. My parents were divorced when I was very young and so my mother became my everything. There was nothing she couldn't do. We were very close growing up and still are today. My dad lives in Sikeston, Missouri and is remarried with two other children.

I wasn't raised in church, so I experienced a lot of things as a teenager. My sister was a Christian and I watched her take a stand when it wasn't popular. But, I decided to follow the crowd. I started dating Greg Stidham in December, 1989. Greg was one of a kind. He lived in Prattville, AL with his parents. He went to church with his mother, who had raised him very well. He was a very good person.

I went to college to be a cosmetologist and graduated in 1994. My sister Angie and I moved in together in my grandmother's house and she started to minister to me. She made a huge impact on my life. She lived a life that showed Jesus to me. I finally gave my life over to God; what a wonderful day that was.

Greg and I decided to get married in June 1994. We had a struggle for the first year. I went to church and he wouldn't go with me. It was very hard for me to continue going alone, but God was with me.

In 1999, we had our only child, Bailey Brooke Stidham. She was born very sick and was flown to Huntsville Hospital the next morning. Greg and I were scared to death, but we had so many people there with us who loved us. Finally Greg gave his life to the Lord during this time that Bailey was sick. Our lives changed so much that three months.

The thing I want you to know most is that God was faithful to us. When we weren't strong enough to walk, God walked with us and carried us at times. There are so many other things I could share with you, but the main thing is that no matter what you face in life, God is enough for you. This was a very difficult time in our lives, But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Because of what we came through, our marriage is stronger, our faith is stronger, and we have a beautiful, loving, full of life daughter who makes us feel very blessed.

In June we will be married 13 years and we are very happy. God changed our lives; He healed us in so many ways. We are partners in this journey and we are growing closer to each other and closer to God everyday. We are always here to help any of you who need us. We thank God for all of you, our church family. We love you all very much. Just as Greg, Bailey and I are going to make it, with God's help we all can make it together.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!!!

Please begin praying immediately for Martha Hill. Nina called me last night in tears. She had to admit Martha last night. Martha was due to have that scan done today that shows the progress (or not) of the treatments she had been taking. She should have taken 8 treatments by now, but she has only been able to take 4 because she gets so sick. She has not been able to recover from her most recent treatment, which was about 3 weeks ago I think.

Nina is afraid that the treatments are not working on the cancer. They will know after this test.

Nina called and asked me to pray with her and for Martha. She then asked "PLEASE call your praying friends at church. So much good comes out of that church." - It's a wonderful compliment to know that people think we can do go things.... But I had to remind her that "we" are just instruments....GOD is the one who does good things"

Please pray as soon as you get this and let's lift this family up in prayer, in healing and every way possible!

In what might prove to be the crowning achievement of an illustrious career in ministry, the 87-year-old evangelist, Billy Graham shocked the 16,300 in attendance at the Celebration of Hope crusade in New Orleans Arena on Sunday Night.

Touted in advance as possibly his last Evangelistic crusade, Graham invited the packed house of evangelical Christians and the hundreds of new converts to join him on the one mile walk from the arena to New Orleans' infamous Bourbon Street.

"While we have seen God do tremendous things here the past couple of evenings. Yes, it is true that a great healing and a great many salvations have occurred within the confines of this auditorium. Still yet, there lies a great mountain in this city which needs to be conquered."

Then taking from the Biblical Book of Joshua Chapter 14 he read, "I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day," his voice suddenly sounding more forceful than during his 22 minute sermon.

"I last preached in the City of New Orleans in 1954 and I felt then that there was some unfinished business. Tonight, in what very well might be my last evangelistic service, I aim to finish that business and lead as many of you that would follow me to the multitude of lost souls that fill Bourbon Street tonight. That is my mountain! That is where we shall see the harvest!" said Graham as the stadium erupted in cheers that lasted the next several minutes.

Utilizing a waiting mobility scooter, the elder Graham joined his son and heir to the ministry, Franklin, across the Arena floor and through the opened doors leading towards the French Quarter. In a show of solidarity and determination reminiscent of civil rights marches of the 1960's, nearly the entire capacity crowd joined in the 20 minute trek while singing, "When the Saints Go Marching In".

As the march crossed Canal Street and headed northward towards Bourbon Street, many onlookers stood in stunned silence as the massive crowd of people began singing in unison the Christian hymn, "Amazing Grace". Upon entering the west end of Bourbon Street, Billy Graham was soon recognized by partiers.

Soon, those joining in the march began to approach those partying on Bourbon Street with the Gospel message that they had heard preached just a half hour before. Graham himself joined with a group of local street evangelists in ministering to a man who had survived Hurricane Katrina in the lower 9th Ward.

Within 30 minutes, the entirety of Bourbon Street was packed with Christians and the once blaring music of nightclubs and strip joints had been replaced by weeping and worship as people poured out their drinks and sought prayer from the Christians who were now reaching out to them.

"I have never seen anything like this in my life," said 20 years New Orleans Police Department veteran, Tom Phillips. "This is unbelievable! We thought a riot was going to break out, but this looks more like a Revival than a riot!"

Two hours later, a glowing Graham sat back down on his scooter, smiled and said, "Now I know how the Apostle Paul must have felt at the end of his ministry. Do the work of an evangelist; make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Hours later, hundreds of Christians remained on the street ministering to the many people eagerly waiting to receive prayer and ministry. New Orleans will never be the same. And the press remained mute on this "news item?" Did anyone see it on TV/hear it on radio/read it in the paper? Why are we not surprised? Can't have THAT just prior to a major election, now, can we?

Well, just on a whim, spread the news, anyway. It cost our elder brother, Billy Graham, more than any of us know to make that effort. The least we can do is publicize it .

Leadership Conference at Camp Boothe

Angela Fincher, Lisa Stidham, Cynthia Stidham, and I attend the annual Leadership Conference - Women's Ministries session at Camp Boothe this weekend. Our instructor was Sister Cathy Payne who is the International Women's Ministries Director. This class was well worth the travel to Green Pond. Sister Cathy is an awesome leader who takes no credit for her talents; she gives God ALL of the Glory for everything she is able to do.

We enjoyed this conference so much and we learned a lot. In this class, we spent time with women from other Alabama churches as a group and one on one. We shared personal information, as well as new ideas with each other. Cathy was so inspiring with her teaching and the stories she from her mission trips over seas. We were blessed by the presence of the Holy Spirit in the morning session. We laughed. We cried. We prayed. I'm already looking forward to going back next year.

If you and/or your husband work in any ministry in the church (children's church, men's ministry, youth ministry), you should attend at least one of these conferences. It will make a difference in your life as well as in the lives of those you minister to.

We love all of you very much and we're so excited about what God is going to do for you this year. We brought back many ideas, refreshed minds, and hearts burdened with love and compassion for the women of our church and of our community. We want to make this year an awesome year for all of the women we can touch with our Women's Ministry. And you can help by encouraging the leaders; attending monthly meetings and special events; reaching out to the un-churched in the community; offering ideas for new ministry projects; sharing your needs, problems, prayer request, and victories with all of us; and praying daily for the women of our church and community, praying for their families, and praying for our church.

Let's make a difference in the lives of the women around us, as well as in our own lives.

My name is Crystal Huggins. I am married to Jason Huggins. We have been married for 3 years. I have two wonderful children. Collin Blake McLemore age 10 and Rebecca Gail Huggins who is 5 months old. I am currently able, with God’s help to be a stay at home mother. I love every minute of it.

I was born Crystal Gail McLemore, September 16, 1977 at Haleyville Hospital. My mother is Evelyn McLemore of Hackleburg. She is my inspiration to be a good mother. I have watched my mother sacrifice so many things over the years for her three daughters. It amazes me how she can love so unselfishly. She didn’t attend church with me as a child very often. But she always made sure I had a way there. She taught me many things about the Lord, even without living for him. There were many times as a child that she provided for us when the money didn’t seem to be enough. But she paid her tithes and the money seemed to keep going to make enough. In the last few years I have seen her growing to be a wonderful servant of the Lord.

My father is Edward McLemore. He lives in Sikeston, MO. Growing up I didn’t see my dad a lot. He and my mother separated when I was five. He always stated he loved me but just seemed to not understand it takes more than words to let someone know you love them. He caused a lot of pain for my family. It has taken a long time for me to say that I have forgiven him. God is working with me daily for me to get over the hurts of so long ago. Dad is currently in church and is a very changed person than when I was growing up. He is trying hard to be there for my sisters and me through doing things for our children. I praise God for the changes he has made in my dad.

I have two wonderful sisters. Lisa Stidham and Angie Wellington. Although I don’t tell them often enough, I love them so very much. Greg Stidham and Billy Wellington are my brother-in-laws. I have two nieces on my side Katie Wellington and Bailey Stidham. This is my family. Without their love and support I would not be the person I am today. Their prayers and love help me find my way to the Lord.

The first six years of my life I lived in Missouri. To have my sisters say, I was a spoiled brat. I was everyone’s baby. I knew I was loved. Everything changed when infidelity destroyed my family. During the process of trying to work things out mom and dad moved us to Florida. I don’t remember a lot, just that I hated it there. Dad left us there and moved back to Missouri. By the grace of God, we eventually got to leave also. We didn’t head back to Missouri. We came to Hackleburg, Alabama. God knew, even though we didn’t see it at the time, exactly where we needed to be.

Mother struggled to raise three girls alone. She gave up many things to see us girls have what we need. I don’t remember getting many things I wanted. But we always had what we needed. I was still very loved.

I graduated for Hackleburg in 1995. I graduated with great honors. My mother was there for it all. So were my sisters.

I wasn’t in church and wasn’t living a life I was very proud of. At the age of 18 if found out I was pregnant. I think it was the most terrifying feeling I have ever had. I didn’t know for sure what I was going to do. I know without a doubt I was keeping the baby. But that is all I knew at the time. I couldn’t stay at home so I just drove. I ended up at the church. My sisters where there. I had to tell them. It was the hardest night of my life. Besides my sisters there where others who blessed me that night. Tina Raper gave me strength with the words she said to me. Cynthia Stidham was also a blessing that night. It was the hardest night of my life. I felt like I had let everyone down. I had disappointed so many people.

Through everything I still knew I was loved. Looking back on that night it is kind of ironic that the thing that everyone that was awful turned out to be the most loved little boy ever. God still knew what He was doing. I gave birth to Collin Blake McLemore November 23, 1996. He is truly a gift from God. God started working on me the night I showed up at church to let everyone know about Collin. He continued to work on my through Collin. He knew what it would take to get me to find Him. That was Collin.

There were many ups and downs. There was a lot of turning back. But God didn’t give up on me. He still hasn’t.

After Collin was born it still took a while to surrender to God. I dated which always ended up with heartache. Until July 2003. That was when I meet the man that God had for me. Jason Huggins. A year later on August 27, 2004 we were married. God not only sent me a husband, but he sent Collin a daddy. He answered both our prayers. We were recently blessed with a baby girl, Rebecca Gail Huggins. And she is loved.

There are so many things that I thank God for in my life. I could never thank him enough for the love that I have had. I am rich, not with money, but with love. I have a loving family who is beside me not matter what the situation is. Plus, I have my church family. I am so very blessed with people who not only love, but also know how to show love. Thank you all for your prayers.

Crystal Huggins

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!!!

My friend Angie has a niece, Missy, and she is having some life-threatening complications. She's 2-3 months pregnant. (Some of you may remember her: she was pregnant with twins 2 years ago. The baby girl died then 2 weeks later the baby boy died. Since then I believe she's lost another set of twins and another baby. And she has thyroid cancer which they are waiting to treat until after this baby is born.) She's been rushed to the hospital by ambulance three times in the last two weeks for severe hemorrhaging. They were going to do a blood transfusion, but opted not to and sent her home with iron pills. The docs say that the baby still looks fine. They don't know where the bleeding is coming from. They say it could be the placenta trying to pull away from the uterine wall, but there's no evidence of that. They have told her that it is possible that if she starts bleeding like that again in the next week, she could bleed to death. Her hu sband, Ryan, went to the hospital this past week for chest pains and they said it was a false heart attack. They suspect it's from the stress of everything. Please keep Missy and Ryan and their unborn baby in your prayers.

I would like eveybody to pray for J.J. Some of ya'll know that I had to take him to the eye doctor a week ago Friday. They found some small pieces of metal in his left eye. I had to take him back Friday for them to recheck it. There is still a ring of rust on his pupil and he is going to give it till Feb. 6 to come out on it's own. If its not out by then, he said he would have to buff it out. Davy said he has had that done before and it hurt really bad after. Pray that God will take care of this. Thanks BethAnn

Teriffic Tuesdays

About a year ago our church family began to fast at least one meal every Tuesday and give ourselves to prayer for divine direction in our church and it's leadership. As God began to move, our faith began to grow. I would like to ask our ladies to renew this committment to the Lord. In addition to prayer for our church, let us also begin to pray for Pastor Brian Sutton as he shepherds us and also for our families to be united and committed to God's plan for our lives.
Satan desires to have our children, our church, and our souls in bondage to him.

In Matthew 17:20-21 Jesus instructed his disciples that "...If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."

What is it that you desire most from God. Isn't it worth our sacrafice to see our miracle happen?

A man that works with me, Darrell Brewer, lost his stepson yesterday. The boy was only 18 and he hanged himself in the closet of his bedroom. Darrell is having an especially hard time dealing with this because he is the one who had to get the boy down. Please pray for this family, they are in desperate need of God's help.

Meet Nancy McCarley

My name is Nancy McCarley, and this is my story!

I was born Nancy Lindsey to Charles and Louella Lindsey, and a sister to Gary and Roger Lindsey. I was raised in Detroit, MI until the age of maturity. I thought the age of maturity was 13 but my parents quickly showed me differently…. We were raised in the Assembly of God church. My parents maintained the “if you live under this roof, you’ll do what we say.” Today, I am so thankful they kept us in church all our lives.

I attended a private business college, Northwood Institute, in Midland Michigan. I majored in business management and minored in advertising/marketing. I was able to continue my college education throughout my employment with the Army through Boston College. In 1977 I married Marvin Dykes, a career soldier, and the Army saw the need to move us all over the world. During that time, we gave birth to Kimberly (now Kimberly Fretwell, married to Jason Fretwell) and Karen Dykes.

I worked for Department of Defense for over 20 years in the area of training and development and research. My favorite place that I have lived is Berlin, Germany. I have visited Poland, Belgium, Holland, Russia, Czek, Austria, Portugal, Canada, England, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Rome, Italy, Greece, several other little countries and 48 states. I have not been to Alaska or Hawaii. I love to travel.

Traveling to third world countries is when and where I learned how lucky I was to be an American. How blessed I was to have so much freedom in so many areas and just how spoiled I was. As we travel to third-world countries my life began to change. It was then that I realized how easy it is to “give”. When you have so much, and you meet people who have so little, you realize how easy it is to help others.

My life changed in 1997 after a divorce. I became a single mom, and moved to Alabama with my daughters. I went to work for the District Attorney in 1997 until 2002.

I was in no hurry to get married again, but I prayed often that God would send me someone at the right time. In May 2001 Girlie Ray McCarley and I got married. He is a wonderful husband, and is a wonderful step-father to Kimberly and Karen. I also became a “bonus mom” since Ray had a daughter, Lynn. And we have one terrific, sports minded, no-holds barred, grandson, Ty Raper. My daughter Kimberly (& Jason) are expecting their first child (a girl) on/about January 25, 2007.

My hobbies are writing, cooking and traveling. I have flown ultra-light airplanes, and bunji-jumped (which I REALLY loved). I thoroughly enjoy Christian music. I take music personal. I like to close my eyes and get a complete visual of the words of a song. My very favorite song right now is by Michael Combs, “It Was Me”. My favorite foods are Chinese and Italian foods. I hate fish.

I am thankful for my best friend, Cynthia Stidham. Whether she knows it or not, she has mentored me tremendously. I consider myself exceedingly blessed to have her as my (best) friend, my Sunday School teacher, and a ‘sister’.

The most exciting thing(s) to happen to me are (1) the births of my daughters (2) my miracle healing in my body an (3) the day I listened and obeyed God at the Waffle House on Christmas Eve in Destin, Florida !

I lost my mother in January 2005 and my father in November 2005. My oldest brother Gary passed away in 2001. I look forward to the day when we will all be together again.

I am thankful for my church family. I don’t know what I would do without all of them!

Meet Cynthia Stidham

My name is Cynthia Stidham. I was born and raised in Lawrence County where I graduated from Hatton High School in 1981. My parents are Raymon and Arlene Sutton. I am a “preacher’s kid.”

My Christian journey began in a small country church called Harris Chapel. It was in this church that my mother felt a calling of God to minister. In the early 1970’s she and my father decided our family should step out on faith and start a mission church in Moulton, Alabama. Dad’s cousin and close friend, Coy Sutton, his wife and children felt that God wanted them to join us. We rented and remodeled a small building and begin having services. This is when my mother began to teach me to play the piano. Many times the attendance was only 12 people (my parents and their 4 children, as well as Coy, his wife and 4 children), but we loved the Lord and sang like there was a house full. Eventually the attendance began to grow and we were able to purchase some land with an old rundown house, which meant more work. We picked cotton, pepper, cucumbers, and stripped sugar cane to earn money for building supplies after work and school, then worked on the old house on Saturdays. A new church now stands on that same property today.

In 1975 we moved to Phil Campbell to pastor the Church of God of Prophecy there. My dad drove 1 ½ hours to Decatur every day to work a 12 hour “swing” shift and then 1 ½ hour drive home. Even after working all night and getting home at 7:30 a.m., he was faithfully at church every Sunday morning, playing his guitar, singing, and teaching Sunday School. His faithfulness still inspires me today.

My mother has also served as pastor (and my dad as deacon) in the Church of God of Prophecy at Haleyville, Athens, and Decatur. It was during her tenure at Haleyville that I met and later married Norman Lacey. We married June 11, 1982 and I moved to Haleyville. My first job was in Haleyville at Goar’s Big Star Supermarket. Later I worked at the TG&Y department store and finally at Ther-A-Pedic Sleep Products where I have been employed for more than 20 years.

July 22, 1989 God gave me the gift of a lifetime, a precious baby girl, Halie Nichole Lacey. She turned out to be such a “Daddy’s girl”, fishing, hunting, and being his shadow. On January 9, 1993, being only 3 ½ years old, she lost her dad in a house fire. Halie was a flowergirl in a wedding at our church that night and upon arriving home we found firetrucks everywhere. It was too much for a child to understand, but we had each other, and our church, family, and friends constantly love and encouraged us.

Then in July 1994, I met Ronnie Stidham. He, too, had lost a spouse in Janurary 1993, (Teresa Black Stidham). We seemed to have so much in common. I quickly fell in love with him and his two children, Emily Faith Stidham and Morgan Craig Stidham. We married on August 11, 1994. Our families began to “blend” into one. We had a lot of decisions to pray about…what house to live in, what church and school to attend. We agreed to put a “FORSALE” sign on both houses and let God decide. Two days after putting the sign in the yard of my Haleyville home, my house sold. Halie and I moved to Hackleburg were we now live, attend church and school.

Cynthia serves as Worship Leader, Prayer Warrior, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Memory Club Teacher (along with her Husband Ronnie), Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Friend, and wonderful servant of God. She is loved and respected by all.

SHERRY HALLMARK'S UNCLE WAS KILLED AND THE TRIAL AND SENTENCING FOR ONE OF THE SUSPECTS IS JUST FINISHING UP. THIS IS A REQUEST FROM SHERRY TODAY:

JUST TO UPDATE EVERYONE: THE SENTENCING WAS HELD YESTERDAY ON THE GUY WHO SHOT MY UNCLE. THE JUDGE SENTENCED HIM TO DEATH. THE FIRST IN MARION COUNTY. PLEASE KEEP HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS. HE IS ONLY 28 YEARS OLD. HE REALLY NEEDS TO COME TO KNOW THE LORD BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HIM. PRAY FOR HIM ALSO.

THANKS FOR ALL THE PRAYERS DURING THIS TIME. THERE ARE TWO MORE TRIALS FOR THE BROTHER AND THE UNCLE. THE UNCLE'S WILL PROBABLY START IN FEBRUARY.

Yahweh Sisterhood Christmas Party

We had a blast at the Women's Christmas Party last night. This was the best turn-out we've ever had. There was lots of great food, especially the desserts. Lisa Stidham did a great job as hostess and with her devotion. Halie Lacey sang a beautiful song by New Song. Then Hailie and Healther Johnson sang "The Greatest Story Ever Told" written by Hailie Lacey. It was awsome! Our Dirty Santa game got pretty dirty. Some of the women began to team up to get the gifts that they wanted. Sister Jean got her excersize in, trying to find gifts to replace the ones everybody kept taking from her. She even sang "Jingle Bells" for us when whe opened a bell-filled Christmas tree. Even though the song was great, she didn't get to keep the tree. Angie Wellington corhersed Renee Sutton into giving up her gift by pouring icewater down the back of her shirt.

Everyone enjoyed the food, fun, & fellowship. Thank you to all who helped by decorating, bringing the food and drinks, cleaning up afterwards, and for just being there to share this time with your sisters. We missed those of you who couldn't join us. We hope that you will join us next time. May God bless each every one of you!

Our Women's Christmas Party is Tuesday, December 12, @6:00pm, at People's Trust Bank. There will be prayer, devotion, a special song by Hailie Lacey, great food, and the Dirty Santa game. Don't forget your boxing gloves and protective gear, the game does get pretty dirty. (lol)

PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for Connor Stults. Connor has a problem with the main valve in his heart. He had another episode with his heart at school today (the 2nd since Saturday). Connor goes to see his pediatrician tomorrow morning and maybe on for tests. Connor believes that God is going to heal him. Please believe that with him.

UPDATE: Connor will see his cardiologist on Dec 15th. His pediatrician is trying to schedule an MRI of Connor's brain stem to rule out "Chiari Malformation" (which is what his mom has had two surgeries for). This can be hereditary. Please pray that God will heal Connor without any invasive procedures. To God be the glory!

UPDATE: Connor goes Tuesday, Dec 12, for an MRI of his brain and spine to rule out Chiari Malformation. He goes Friday, Dec 15, to see the cardiologist. Pray that God will prove himself once again.
